Sixteen 240L wheelie bins or four heaped 6×4 box trailer loads go into a 4m³. Put another way, a single cubic metre is about one heaped trailer, and this bin gives you four of them. That covers a full garden bed strip-out, a shed and carport emptied in one go, or the offcuts, cabinetry and rubble a mixed renovation leaves behind. A 4m3 skip bin is the most effective bin for renovations of specific areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.
The 4m³ is the largest skip we can fill with concrete, brick and tile, so it is the bin to book when the job is heavy rather than bulky. The 6m³ and 10m³ do not take those materials at all. The 0.90m sides also mean broken concrete, heavy items and brick go over the rail instead of overhead.
Working out of a long, low bin keeps a site tidy without slowing the work down. Two people can load from either side at the same time and being able to throw items over the side ensures the yard stays clear. That matters most on landscaping, moving house clear outs and renovation jobs that run across several days.
Soil and clean fill waste type is not available in this size. Soil loads can go in a 2m³ or a 3m³ skip bin instead.
Declare these when you book so we can quote them properly.
We are strictly unable to take asbestos or fibro in a standard bin. Hazardous material of that kind needs specialised disposal, so it is handled by prior arrangement only. We can supply a separate bin for it, please contact us.
Fill it to the rim and no higher. How the load is packed decides whether it all fits, and whether the bin gets collected on the day.
Length is the key measurement to check for this size bin. To ensure prompt delivery, there must be 3.6m of clear space at the drop point on firm, level ground, plus about 2.5m of width. We need to ensure the truck will fit, not just the bin. The bin is 1.50m wide, but the truck that delivers it is 2.50m, and the driver needs extra space beside it to operate the controls. A standard single driveway usually meets these requirements, but a short driveway with a car parked at the top often does not.
Overhead clearance is also important. The truck swings the bin off the back and lowers it along the same 3.6m length. This means the drop point and the area behind it need to be free of low power lines and overhanging branches, which are common obstacles. We recommend measuring or pacing out the 3.6m clear length before booking and letting us know exactly where you want the bin placed so we can confirm the truck can access the spot.
The bin measures 3.6m long, 1.5m wide and 0.9m high. That is twice the length of a 3m³, and 0.90m high against the 3m³’s 1.20m, so the rail sits below chest height for most people. Leave 3.6m of clear length at the drop point, and allow room in front of that for the truck to reverse in. Generally, a 4m3 skip bin takes up about the same space as a standard car park.
Most extra charges on this size come from exceeding the 750kg allowance, so managing weight effectively is where you save money. Booking heavy materials as a concrete, brick, and tile load covers the tip fees in the price. If you put the same rubble into a general waste bin, you may pay extra for the weight beyond the allowance.
Good loading habits also help reduce costs. Break down furniture and cabinetry to lay flat, spread heavy materials evenly across the floor instead of piling them in one spot, and keep the load level with the rim. If you’re unsure which waste stream your load belongs to, call us before delivery or check the full waste types list.
We have a large range of skip bins available, from a 2m³ up to a 10m³, so there is an option either side of this size. Not every job is a perfect fit for a 4m³, and we would rather send the bin that suits the work.

From $535 for general, mixed, green waste, concrete, brick, and tile loads, which covers delivery, 7 days hire, collection, and 750kg of weight. Any weight past the allowance is charged in 100kg steps at the tip’s current rate.
Four heaped 6×4 box trailer loads, or sixteen standard 240L wheelie bins. The bin is 3.60m long, 1.50m wide and 0.90m high, so long items such as fence palings and timber lengths lie flat in it. That is enough to clear a shed and a carport in one go.
750kg is included with a general or green waste load. Any weight past the allowance is charged in 100kg steps at the tip’s current rate on the day. Heavy material reaches 750kg faster than most people expect, so book concrete, brick and tile as its own load and the tip fees are covered.
Yes. The 4m³ is the largest skip size we fill with concrete, brick and tile, from $535 with all tip fees included. Our 6m³ and 10m³ do not take those materials. Keep the load pure concrete, brick and tile, broken down to pieces smaller than 700mm × 700mm.
3.60m long, 1.50m wide and 0.90m high. Length is the number that decides whether it fits, so measure 3.6m of clear run before you book. The low sides make over-side loading easy. The truck still needs clear height above the drop point, because it lifts the bin to place it.
All of our skip bins include 7 days hire. Ask when you book if you need it longer than the week, because extended hire carries a size-based surcharge. Bins that fill up early can be collected sooner, so give us a ring once you are done loading.
If the bin is on your own driveway or in your yard there is no permit needed. It is only when the bin has to stand on public land that one is required, so a kerbside spot, a nature strip or a footpath placement triggers it. In Newcastle and Lake Macquarie that permit costs $132.00, and our staff will lodge the application for you.
Asbestos and fibro sheeting are never accepted, and neither are food and liquids, chemicals, wet paint and paint tins, gas bottles, batteries, medical waste including sharps, polystyrene or nappies. Villaboard is subject to approval. Mattresses at $65, tyres at $70, fire extinguishers and stumps over 30cm go in for an extra charge. See our waste types page.
Most skip hire bins go out within 24 hours of the booking being confirmed. Depending on the time you book your skip bin, we can offer same day delivery if you do not require a council permit. Tell us your suburb and we will confirm a delivery day on the spot. We deliver across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast.
