6m³ Skip Bin Hire

When a renovation spreads past one room, this is the bin the trades book. A 6m³ skip bin can handle the strip-out from two or three rooms at once, including plasterboard, timber, cabinetry, and carpet. It fits the equivalent of six heaped 6×4 box trailer loads. The bin is designed for volume rather than weight.

This size is favoured by builders, shopfitters, and renovators when the job covers several rooms. It’s suitable for office strip-outs, factory or warehouse cleanups, and any renovation generating more waste than a smaller bin can hold. Trades prefer it because one bin can cover a whole week of work, making it more cost-effective than hiring multiple smaller bins or renting trucks.

On this page you will find the price and what’s included, the measurements, the access we need, the waste types available and how to load the bin.

What Fits In A 6m³ Skip Bin?

A 6m³ bin can accommodate twenty-five 240L wheelie bins, equivalent to six heaped 6×4 trailer loads or 24 standard wheelbarrows of waste. A multi-room renovation, an office demolition or a warehouse cleanup will generally produce that quantity of rubbish across a working week.

Is A 6m³ The Right Skip Bin Size For Your Job?

The 6m³ is the right pick when the volume is large and the material is light. Multi-room renovations, shop and office strip-outs, and factory or warehouse cleanups all produce plasterboard, timber, cabinetry, carpet and packaging in quantity. That mix fills the space quickly and still sits comfortably under the tonne allowed weight.

Using a 6m3 skip bin to remove heavy items may risk going over your included weight limit, so ensure what you are getting rid of is suitable. If you are unsure contact us and request a quote – we’ll do our best to provide you an ideal solution.

One bin on site for the week keeps the job moving and doesn’t create safety hazards. Trades load as they strip out rather than stacking waste in a corner. The site stays walkable, nobody loses half a day to a trailer run, and a commercial space that is still in use stays presentable while the work goes on.

      Waste types this bin takes

Concrete, brick, tile and soil are not available in this size. Concrete, brick and tile belong in a 4m³ skip bin or smaller. Soil and clean fill go in a 3m³ or a 2m³ skip bin. For large loads of concrete, brick, tile, soil or sand – please see our Hook Lift bins.

      Charged as an extra

Declare these when you book so we can quote them properly.

      Never accepted, in any bin

We are strictly unable to take asbestos or fibro in a standard bin. Hazardous material of that kind needs specialised disposal, so it is handled by prior arrangement only. We can supply a separate bin for it, please contact us.

      Loading

      Loading A 6m³ Skip Bin

Fill it to the rim and no higher. How the load is packed decides whether it all fits, and whether the bin gets collected on the day.

      • Fill to the rim onlyAn overfilled bin cannot legally be transported, so the truck has to leave it behind and a futile collection fee applies.
      • Put heavy material in firstSpread it across the floor rather than piling it at one end, then stack lighter waste on top. A 6m³ includes 1 tonne, and heavy material uses that up quickly.
      • Break bulky items downFurniture, pallets and cabinetry take up far less room flat. A broken-down load is often the difference between a 6m³ doing the job and needing the next size up.
      • Keep the waste type cleanMixing heavy material into a general load means the whole bin is tipped and charged as general waste.

Access For A 6m³ Skip Bin

Placement takes more thought at this size than it does on the driveway bins. We need clear width for the truck to line up on the spot. We also need clear height directly above it, plus ground that is level and firm enough to carry a loaded bin. On commercial sites the obstacles are usually awnings, signage and overhead services running across the yard or the car park.

Walk the site and choose the position before you book. Measure your access to ensure the truck will fit, not just the bin. The bin is 1.50m wide, but the truck that delivers it is 2.50m wide, and the driver needs extra space beside it to operate the controls. If anything about the spot is marginal, call us and describe it. Working the placement out on the phone is far better than a truck arriving with nowhere to set the bin down.

6 Cubic Metre Skip Bin Dimensions And Wall Height

The bin measures 3.6m long, 1.5m wide and 1.2m high. It sits on the same footprint as the 4m³ with an extra 300mm of wall height. The bin comes off the truck from above, which makes clear height over the drop point as important as ground length.

Keeping The Cost Of A 6 Cubic Metre Skip Down

Keep concrete, brick, tile and soil out entirely, since that material belongs in a smaller bin. Flat-pack whatever you can, so the full 6 cubic metres gets used without going over your weight allowance.

Breaking waste down counts for more in a tall bin than a short one. Cabinets, pallets, doors and frames stack flat along the floor and leave the top half free for bulky items. Call us before delivery if you are unsure which stream your load falls under. See the full waste types list.

Not The Right Skip Bin Size?

We have a large range of skip bins available, from a 2m³ up to a 10m³, so there is an option either side of this size. Not every job is a perfect fit for a 6m³, and we would rather send the bin that suits the work.

      2m³

      Skip bin size

The smallest drop-off skip, for single-room clean-ups, garage tidies and small garden loads. It fits limited-access properties and holds about eight 240L wheelie bins.

      Skip bin size

A 6m³ skip bin starts from $660 for general/mixed waste and green waste. Both prices include a 1 tonne weight allowance, delivery, 7 days hire and collection. Past the tonne, the facility bills the difference per 100kg on its current rate. Concrete, brick, tile and soil are not available in this size.

Around six heaped 6×4 box trailer loads, or twenty-five standard 240L wheelie bins. That is enough for the strip-out from two or three rooms of a renovation, or an office defit’s partitions, desks and carpet.

For general/mixed waste and green waste, a generous one tonne of weight is included. Once the load passes that mark, the extra is charged per 100kg at the current rate of the facility we tip at.

No. Concrete, brick, tile and soil are all off the list in a 6m³. Concrete, brick and tile belong in a 4m³ or smaller. Soil and clean fill go in a 3m³ or a 2m³ skip bin.

Our 6m3 skip bins are 3.60m long, 1.50m wide and 1.20m high.

All of our skip bins include 7 days hire. Extended hire is arranged at booking or by a call during the week, and the surcharge depends on which bin you have. Tell us as soon as the job is done and we will bring the collection forward.

If the bin is on your own driveway or in your yard there is no permit needed. It is only when the bin has to stand on public land that one is required, so a kerbside spot, a nature strip or a footpath placement triggers it. In Newcastle and Lake Macquarie that permit costs $132.00, and our staff will lodge the application for you.

Asbestos and fibro cement sheeting are never accepted, and villaboard is subject to approval. Food and liquids, chemicals, wet paint and paint tins, gas bottles, batteries, medical waste including sharps, polystyrene and nappies are all excluded. Mattresses at $65, tyres at $70, fire extinguishers and stumps over 30cm are surcharged, so declare them at booking. Chemicals and liquids cannot be disposed of in a skip bin and are classed as prohibited.

Most skip hire bins go out within 24 hours of the booking being confirmed. Depending on the time you book your skip bin, we can offer same day delivery if you do not require a council permit. Tell us your suburb and we will confirm a delivery day on the spot. We deliver across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast.
